Building a Loading Bay Shelter

How do you get a covered loading bay without needing a full facility with a loading dock? Build a shelter of course!

Renting a large expensive facility mainly for the loading dock just didn’t make sense, so we worked with this client to design this shelter to easily unload materials under cover without buying or leasing a new building. The focus was to make this shelter accessible for trucks to unload, forklifts to maneuver and unload the materials, and transport them as needed. To do this, we designed this shelter with a door on the back side, and an open end on concrete blocks. This area was then filled with asphalt to have a level unloading space to make it safe and easy to navigate.

This provided our customer with a cost-effective covered loading dock including storage space. Win, win. Building a Loading Bay Shelter 1 Building a Loading Bay Shelter 3
